The security of Cyber Physical Systems is of major importance. Systems should be secure to have confidence and trust on e.g., the measurement outcomes they produce as well as to rely on their usage.
Designers of sensor networks that register "sensitive" or confidential data are expected to make the system in such a way that this data cannot come into the hands of organizations and persons for whom this data is not intended. In a wireless environment it is possible to become part of the network via a "hack" and thus retrieve unauthorized data. All components of the sensor network must therefore be properly secured. Also the users of these systems have their responsibility, because they are vulnerable for spoofing and phishing.
The research group focuses on finding and proliferating design guidelines for cybersecurity, for IoT based systems.
